Sheriffs Department
The Lyon County Sheriff's Office has a substation located in Fernley. The Sheriffs Office utilizes community-oriented policing techniques and offers programs such as D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education), Citizens Law Enforcement Academy, Triad Program, GREAT (Gang Resistance Education & Training) and the Bicycle Safety Training Program.

Fire Department
The city of Fernley has a volunteer Fire Department-N. Lyon Fire District with 100 participants and 12 full-time employees including several paramedics on call 24 hours per day, 7 days per week and located only approximately one mile from Crossroads Commerce Center.
